Former Delta state governor Ibori pleads guilty to money laundering charges

Former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, on Monday pleaded guilty to fraud and money laundering charges at a Southwark Crown Court in London.
An online medium, saharareporters, says Ibori pleaded guilty to 10 counts of fraud, money laundering and corruption before Judge Anthony Pitts.

Ibori’s guilty plea has closed a chapter to a long judicial and political saga pertaining to his massive money laundering activities in his eight years as governor of one of Nigeria’s major oil-producing states.
The former governor faces up to 10 years in a UK prison during sentencing, which will take place after the completion of the trial of his accomplice and financial advisor, Ghanaian-born Elias Preko.
Today, the judge ordered that the remaining charges would remain on file.
In a short submission, Crown Prosecution Service lawyer, Sasha Wass, QC, said the prosecution does not seek to go ahead with Ibori’s trial anymore, saying, ” Mr. Ibori has accepted the entirety of the prosecution’s case as it has always been set out.”
More details later.

28 Years Old Nigerian Dies During Alcohol Drinking Contest

Nigerians who patronize drinking joints and beer parlours have been warned by the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force against engaging in life-threatening contests.

This warning followed the death of Azeez Muideen, a 28-year-old commercial motorcyclist (Okada rider), last Wednesday after taking too much alcohol in a bid to win a drinking competition.

It was learnt that on the day of the incident, Azeez and some friends had a drinking contest.  He took excess alcohol after which he suddenly slumped.

According to residents of Aso Rock Villa, Ebute Road, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where the incident occurred, Azeez alone consumed two bottles of brandy before the unfortunate incident. Immediately his friends realised that he had slumped, they dumped his corpse near a gutter and took to their heels.

His remains were later recovered and taken to the Ibafo Police Division. Policemen at the station took the body to a nearby hospital, where Azeez was confirmed dead.

Golf ball lands in an unusual place

So there was a golf tournament and one of the contestants Lee Westwood took a first shot but the ball flew into the midst of spectators and landed in a fans sweater.

After watching his drive leak to the left on the par-5 13th hole, Westwood walked up to find his ball in a seriously unplayable lie, after it ended up bouncing and going down the back of a spectator's sweater.
Westwood went on to get a drop and lose the hole with a par, but it's safe to say he produced one of the craziest shots of the tournament.

Want an iPad 3? Sell Your iPad 2 Now

So ipad 2 is not even circulated and ipad 3 is already on its way.... Well to all apple fans here is a bit of an advantage.
Re-sale prices for the iPad 2 will fall as the official launch date for the iPad 3 — widely expected to be March 7 — edges closer, experts say. Consumers can expect to see a steep decline in value in the two to three weeks prior to the unveiling of the newer device, says Mark LoCastro, spokesman for sale aggregator site DealNews.com. “You’ll receive a higher resale value for your used device if you part with it now, rather than waiting for the newer generation to be announced,” he says.

The re-sale price follows the same trajectory as the iPhone, experts say. As SmartMoney.com reported, the iPhone 4 declined 20% to 25% in value on re-sale sites during the immediate launch period of the iPhone 4S, but this leveled out as the excitement over the launch subsided. The iPad 2 will likely experience a similar percentage decline after the iPad 3 is announced, says Ashley Halberstadt, a spokeswoman for re-sale site Nextworth.com.  That said, LoCastro says re-sale sites want to offer aggressive pricing now in order to buy up as many units as possible while people are looking to sell — so he doesn’t rule out an uptick in price on the day the iPad 3 is announced.

However, if Apple decides to continue selling the iPad 2 at a discount alongside the spanking new iPad 3, the re-sale market for old tablets will experience an even bigger hit, LoCastro says. “This is just a rumor and many are skeptical, but if it proves true the trade-in value for your used iPad 2 will immediately plummet,” he says. (Apple did not respond to requests for comment.) That said, the value of Wi-Fi only iPads typically hold up better on the re-sale market because they don’t involve buyers taking out a two-year data plan, Halberstadt says.
